Banshee was born on a rain-soaked evening in the west of Ireland, when founders Aoife Brennan and Cillian Ó Faoláin found themselves wandering the ruins of an old stone chapel. The air was thick with the scent of moss, distant woodsmoke, and something unnameable—a feeling suspended between memory and imagination. In that moment, they understood: fragrance is a kind of haunting, a gentle guide between worlds.

Both Aoife and Cillian grew up listening to stories of the bean sídhe, the spirit who stands at the threshold, her voice a bridge between what was and what will be. They saw in her a metaphor for scent itself—a silent companion, marking the passages of our lives, guiding us through joy, sorrow, longing, and hope.

Banshee is their invocation of these liminal spaces. Every fragrance is crafted as a passage—a way to inhabit the in-between, to find beauty in what vanishes. We believe scent should not just fill a room, but open a door to a place you half-remember: cold stone, peat smoke, rain-washed earth.
